Members of Texarkana Sunrise Rotary Club are aware of Assistant District Governor Ralph Waits' passion for stargazing. On January 20th, 2019, Ralph Waits, and his daughter, Katie Shonkwiler set up telescopes to view an astronomical rarity, the Super Blood Wolf Moon Lunar Eclipse. For those not in the know, a super blood moon is the phenomenon where the moon appears reddish in color and particularly large and bright during a total lunar eclipse. The lunar eclipse occurs because the moon passes into the Earth's shadow. Finally, a wolf moon is the first full moon of the year. People from all over the United States turned their eyes skyward on January 20th, 2019 for a glimpse of this spectacle and those who did were not disappointed. #SuperBloodWolfMoon2019 #TexarkanaSunriseRotary #AtronomyIsFun
